About Us

From the world's largest collection of autographed baseballs to a 3,000-year-old Egyptian mummy, take a stroll through St. Petersburg's unique history.
For nearly a century, the St. Petersburg Museum of History has shared stories of the Sunshine City. Our galleries offer visitors a look at Florida's rich history with a focus on St. Petersburg and Pinellas County. From the birth of commercial aviation and spring training here in the Sunshine City to the vast accomplishments of early Pinellas Pioneers, the St. Petersburg Museum of History offers something for everyone. Come check out our two-headed calf, our 3,000-year-old Egyptian mummy, our working replica of the Benoist XIV airboat, and the world's largest collection of autographed baseballs - and learn all about St. Pete's history!
Now On Display!

Much has changed in our world since we made the decision to temporarily close the Museum due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but we are pleased to announce that the Museum has safely reopened to the public with an exciting new exhibit — Building the Sunshine City.
We are monitoring developments and keeping in contact with city and county officials to ensure we do what is best for the health and safety of our members, visitors, and staff.
We understand that these are still uncertain times, and not everyone may feel comfortable returning to public venues. As such, we will continue to bring the Museum to you via
St. Pete in a Snap, a weekly email of all things historically different, and the upcoming rebirth of Seabreeze - a digital version of the Museum's monthly newsletter named after St. Pete's first newspaper!
St. Pete in a Snap will also be shared across our social media platforms, along with episodes of Virtual St. Pete: An Historically Different Virtual Walking Tour. Follow us at @HistoryStPete on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to experience the Museum from home!
