DO YOU KNOW...
What's a sea shell?
It's the former home of a mollusk. A mollusk is a soft bodied animal that wears its skeleton on the outside - the opposite of humans who have soft bodies outside and our skeletons inside! You'll hear about shells, and see our collection of 30 local shells.
Sea turtles nest on our beaches!
Loggerheads are the most common type of sea turtles on our coast. They can grow to 4 feet! Female sea turtles come back to lay their eggs on the same area of the Gulf Coast beach she was born. Find out more, including how to help keep these incredible, but endangered sea turtles safe.
